Ty Greenlees is currently serving the United States Air Force as a civilian photographer and Public Affairs Specialist at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.  Greenlees left Cox Media Group’s Dayton Daily News, in 2019 as Senior Photographer for the Dayton Daily News where he photographed the people and events of Dayton and southwest Ohio for 35 years.

Greenlees earned his bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Wright State University, 1988, and his airplane and helicopter pilot certificates while working for the newspaper. Greenlees became the lead drone pilot for the first news-gathering drone operation in Ohio in 2016 which was co-founded with Cox Media Group technology director Eric Dietrich.

With a lifelong passion for photography and aviation, Greenlees has covered the forefront of aviation, military and business events in Dayton, the Birthplace of Aviation.

Greenlees is known for his location lighting and the ability to gather creative photographs from difficult locations and limited time frames. His work continues to appear in the Dayton Daily News.
